William Woodworth 1801 - 1871

The 1841 Census recorded William Woodworth age 35 years – a Waterman living with his wife, Jane Potter, aged 30 (born 1808 to John Potter and Francis Fisher) and their children: Louisa aged 10; Frances aged 5; (one of twins, Thomas died before the 1841 census was enumerated) and Robert aged 1.

The family had grown by the 1851 census to include: William b.1843; George b. 1844; James b. 1849. Granddaughter Anne b.1850.(daughter of Louisa Woodworth)

By 1861, Sons, William and George, were still living at home and their occupation was recorded as chain makers. Staying with them was William’s 8-year-old nephew, Thomas.

William died 5th February 1871 in the Workhouse at Chester, of “Decay of Nature”.

Jane died in 1891 when she was 83 years old.
