Interestingly in the 1881 census, Sarah A. Goodby and Thomas Goodby and their son George Goodby born 1866 are living at 12 Junction Street, Oldbury, Worcestershire. Sarah is Eli Crumpton’s Sister!

Mary Ann married Eli Crumpton on 14 Apr 1873 at St Edmunds Church, Dudley.

They had six children altogether; James b.1874 in Oldbury, Worcestershire and Sarah Elizabeth b. 1877 also in Oldbury, Worcestershire.

The family were recorded in the 1881 census living at 17 Bond Terraces, Sharlston, Yorkshire.

On the same page is a family living next door who might be his parents Thomas (abt 1816 in Salop, Staffordshire) 65 yrs & Sarah (abt 1817 in Salop, Staffordshire) 64 yrs and brother Richard (abt 1859 in Worcs ) 22 yrs – both men are Miners: YES they are related – Thomas is Eli’s father

Three children are born in Durham: Jane b.1882; Mary b. 1888 and Alice b.1891, both in Middle Rainton, and Thomas b. 1895 in East Rainton.

Mary Ann’s death was registered in 1936 at Houghton, County Durham.
